Sad But True Life Fact #1

It's always easier to say "good game" when you win.
I learned this a while ago, in a middle school P.E class. When you play against someone, there will almost always be an atmosphere of competition. This is for the simple reason that, when you compete against a peer, you can't help but wonder who's better at whatever activity you may be doing. Whether it be badminton or basketball, on a team or standing alone, you want to know which person/team is going to come out on top. Therefore, when you win, you feel like you have bested the competition, and are a better person then you were before. At least, that's how I feel. Secretly. I mean, I don't advertise that I feel like a better person, but I just... really....like winning...?  Oh geez, I'm getting off topic. What I mean is, when you lose (and that's happened to all of us, there's no shame in it) you feel a twinge of disappointment. You feel like, just maybe, your opponent is better, if only by a little bit, and that makes it a little bit harder to say "good game", especially since you didn't necessarily have a good game. Or, maybe I'm totally over thinking this, and am just an overly-competitive person who searches for deep meanings in simple sports. Yeah, that's probably it. ;)

Words of Wisdom: January Quote of the Month

Stars can't shine without darkness.
-Anonymous

I really like this quote, and for many reasons. First off, it's a gentle, yet direct, reminder that you can't have good times without bad. Also, it provides a sense of unity, since there are millions of stars, there is just as much darkness. We all have some tough moments, but in the end we come out shining brighter, and feeling stronger than we were before. Keep on shining, people. Keep on shining.

Wish's Word of the Week- January 4th

Wish's Word of The Week

Onomatopoeia

Noun, pronounced ONUH-matuh-PEE-uh

Wish's definition: A word that describes a sound, like Bang! or Squish. Used a lot in comic books, and super fun to say! Try yelling it really loudly, you'll feel better. ;)

Welcome To Thinking In Unicorn!

Greetings and salutations, fellow humans! My name is Wish Upon A Star, but all my friends call me Wish. And let me just say, I am so excited to start blogging! In my blog here, I'm going to post a bunch of random stories, funny moments from my crazy life, and plenty of food for thought. I'm also going to do some fun little posts like "Wish's Word of the Week", and "Words of Wisdom: Wish's Quote of the Month". I think I'll start out by updating biweekly, and if you guys like what you're reading, let me know in the comments and I'll update more often. Thanks for reading, and remember to think in unicorn!
