Wish's Word of the Week- February 8

Wish's Word of the Week

Abibliophobia
Noun, pronounced UH-bib-lee-oh-FOH-bee-uh
Wish's Definition: Someone who has an abibliophobia is someone who is afraid of running out of things to read. In my opinion, this is quite a terrifying idea. No more reading...*Shudders* That would be AWFUL!

"Smart" Doesn't Exist

Yep. You read that right. Smart is not a real thing. It has no meaning. It is a useless adjective. You know why? It's actually very simple. When someone calls someone else "smart", they mean you have high intelligence. The problem is, everyone has high intelligence. Everyone is brilliantly ingenious in their own way. "Smart" applies to every single person (and animal, for that matter) on this planet, because everybody is knowledgeable about something. There is not a single person who can be considered not "smart", because everybody has something they know about. For some people, it's learning new languages. Some people know a lot about String Theory, some know a lot about how to play the timpani. Some may know about climbing trees, or designing new styles of boots. Still others know about canoeing, gerbil breeding, or refurnishing bathrooms. And yet for some reason, some people can't appreciate that. For some, the only kind of "smart" that exists is the kind in a classroom- and that is completely and utterly untrue. "Smart" is everywhere. "Smart' isn't something that singles out people, oh no. "Smart" encompasses all of us. Every. Single. One.

Wish's Word of the Week- February 1st

Wish's Word of the Week

Magnanimous
Adjective, pronounced mag-nan-i-muss
Wish's Definition: To be generous or noble toward someone "beneath" you. It also means to be forgiving toward or during insult. I like to think I'm pretty magnanimous. I mean, when someone makes fun and/or insults a fandom of mine, I don't take their soul...Usually.

Words of Wisdom- Wish's February Quote of the Month

"Don't wait for the perfect moment. Take the moment and make it perfect."-Zoey Sayward

Inspired yet? I feel like this is a fitting quote for February, because, ya know, Valentine's Day. If there is a certain someone you're fond of, go get 'em! Don't wait for the "right time"! YOU CAN DO IT NOW! Use your talents and skills to make it happen! The world needs your talent! And don't you dare say you don't have talent!!! Take it from me, a random person on the internet: You. Are. Amazing. Whatever you want to do, you can do!! What the fudge are you waiting for?! A magical, breathtaking, moment in which you conquer every fear you ever had ever? You, my friend, are going to be waiting a long time, 'cause that will never happen! It's okay to be afraid! That's what makes you human!! But it is not okay to not do it. Believe in yourself, people, because you deserve to and owe it to yourself. CHASE YOUR DREAMS AND HUNT THEM DOWN WITH A KNIFE! *Pauses to catch breath* Whew. That was a lot of motivating. I'm exhausted. In all seriousness though- Life is short. You can make every second count, but you have to work for it. Also, chocolate exists, and that can make almost any moment perfect. ;)

Wish's Words of the Week (Deluxe Edition)

Ah! I done goofed, everybody! I totally forgot to give you all a word of the week this week, and that's bad! So, please enjoy this double dose of weekly word fun, and I'll make sure to not miss another WotW anytime soon. ;)

Wish's Word of the Week

Muffed

Verb, pronounced muh-ff-ed
Wish's Definition: When you do something clumsily or badly, like, for example, forgetting to give your readers their weekly vocab. This dignified term is often used in American football (for instance: a muffed punt) and not really anywhere else as far as I know. But hey, now anytime you screw up, or need to apologize for something, you can just say that you "muffed", and that's a reward in itself.

Wish's Other Word of the Week

Boondoggle

Noun, pronounced boon-dog-uhl
Wish's Definition: An unnecessary or trivial activity that wastes time, like searching up pictures of various fandom characters on the Internet, and doing so for hours. In other words, its a perfect excuse for your parents when you're caught dilly-dallying.
"Sorry, Mom, I was just boondoggling! It won't happen again, promise."

*A Post About Sad Days With Asterisks*

Have you ever had one of those days that starts out great, then ends terribly? You know, one of those times that you win the Spelling Bee, only to come home and find your goldfish belly up in its tank? Or when you finally get the snow day everyone's been wanting, only to find that you're snowed in and can't get out the door. What about that time a trip was canceled at the last second? When you finally get a spot on the basketball team, but you lose seven games in a row? Everyone's been there, and today was definitely one of those days for me. *Sympathetic murmurs* Yeah, I know, it sucks. But there's always tomorrow, right? *Enthusiastic nods* And then the day after that, and the day after that, and so on, right? *Agreement sounds* I'll get over this, and soon it'll be just another knobbly stone in the winding road of life, right? *Wise philosopher noise* Thanks, random reader, that helped a lot. It really did. *Wide smile*
